The Laroch Restaurant and Bar
About This Spot
Nestled in the heart of Loanfern, The Laroch Restaurant and Bar offers a quietly unfolding experience that feels both welcoming and unpretentious. It’s the kind of spot where the bustle of daily life gently fades, replaced by the warm hum of conversation and the comforting rhythm of attentive service. The atmosphere moves at a relaxed pace, inviting you to settle in and savor moments without rush — whether at the bar with a carefully poured drink or wrapped in the cozy intimacy of a table by the window.
Walking inside, you find yourself embraced by an understated warmth, where subtle touches of rustic charm marry effortlessly with a contemporary Scottish sensibility. It’s clear the people here care deeply about the ingredients they bring to the table, showcasing local produce in ways that feel thoughtful rather than showy. The menu reflects this quiet confidence — dishes often arrive with a balance of bold flavors and familiar comforts, like tender braised meats or fresh seafood delicacies, each plate a nod to the region’s lush landscape and rich culinary heritage.
What makes The Laroch stand apart is its ability to feel like more than just a meal. The genuine kindness in the service, mindful of families and solo visitors alike, allows each guest to feel seen and comfortable. We had a really nice dinner here. Both the braise beef and sea bass were very tasty and beautifully presented. Definitely a cut above standard pub fare.

The pork belly with scallops was amazing. Braised beef Scottish slab was very tender. Sticky toffee pudding also very good.

We were group of five and we were here twice so we tried many dishes and all were very good! The waitresses don’t know much about the food they are serving but they go and check in the kitchen. Most of the meals can also be prepared gluten free. The restaurant is usually quite busy so reservations are recommended

The food here is absolutely amazing, everything is very fresh and is made with a great deal of skill and care. The service also is very good, our waitress was very friendly and accommodating, especially with my young and somewhat fussy daughter. The menu isn't very expansive, but it does showcase the best of local Scottish produce and I think there is something for everyone. I also get the impression the menu changes fairly regularly depending on availability of fresh produce which is always a good sign in my opinion. If I had to mention anything negative I would say (as others have mentioned) that the restaurant could do with a refresh but please don't let that put you off, the food is some of the best I've eaten anywhere in the world! Very highly recommended!

after Glencoe Lochan, we had 4pax dinner on 29.7.2025 @The Laroch Restaurant and Bar the turbot was very good, firm, sweet fish, and a really good scallop, all on langustine bisque. so was the seabass, with asparagus risotto. burger fries, quite ok.

Delicious Scottish Beef, perfectly cooked with complimentary flavors. Traditional pub atmosphere with Extra Cold Guinness on tap.

A very unassuming place, but upon “the kitchen” at Glencoe Woodland being shut we found ourselves here, and wow! The staff were lovely, and the food was worth every penny! We had the beef and the pork belly, both were melt in your mouth tender, and very reasonable priced for the incredible quality that was served! If we ever find ourselves in this corner of the world again we would definitely come back to Laroch!

Had a superb meal here! Can’t fault it. Staff were friendly and attentive too. I had the braised beef and my partner had scallops with the pork belly. We shared them both and they were absolutely delicious. Well flavoured and balanced, decent portions, meat was succulent and tenderCheesecake was also yummy.
